What is DESKBIBO?

DESKBIBO puts four small desk tools in one browser tab: quick memo cards (MEMODULE), a calculator with saved results (Calduo), a personal monthly planner (Dayplot) and a timer.

  • No sign-up, no installation, completely free
  • Everything you type is stored only in your own browser and never sent to a server
  • The name comes from the phrase "bits and bobs": the small, useful odds and ends you keep on a desk

Switching tabs

Use MEMO / CALC / SCHEDULE at the top to move between the three tools. Nothing reloads, and everything stays where you left it:

  • the memo you were writing, including unsaved drafts
  • the expression and answer in the calculator
  • the month you were looking at
  • the time remaining on the timer

Using the timer

The timer in the top right stays visible on every tab.

  1. Click the ⚙ (gear) to open the settings panel
  2. Set the time with the three sliders: Hours / Minutes / Seconds. The main display updates as you drag, so you can set it by eye
  3. Press to start — the panel closes itself (clicking outside the panel also closes it)
  4. While running, becomes ⏸ (pause)
  5. resets to the time you set

Four sounds to choose from

Pick one in the settings panel and preview it with the speaker icon next to each row. Your choice is remembered for next time.

  • Beep — a short electronic tone, for when you need to notice
  • Chime — two soft notes, for quiet places
  • Bell — a bell with a long tail, gentle on the ear
  • None — silent; the display blinks instead

It keeps running, whatever you do

The timer works from a target time, not a ticking counter. Switch tabs, write a memo, run a calculation, even reload the page — the time remaining stays correct.

When time is up

  • The display changes to a blinking 00:00:00
  • Your chosen sound repeats, with about one second between each play
  • A red stop button appears next to the digits. Press it to stop the sound and the blinking, and return to the time you set

Where your data is stored

Everything is saved automatically inside your own browser (localStorage). Nothing is sent to a server, and no account is needed.

Storage is per browser. Please keep in mind:

  • Another browser, another computer, or a private window will not show the same data
  • Clearing your browser's history and site data also deletes your DESKBIBO data
  • There is no way to undo a deletion

If you are keeping something important, use Export at the bottom of the page to back it up from time to time.

Moving your data between a PC and a phone

DESKBIBO does not sync automatically. To move your data to another device, use Export and Import.

  1. On the device you are moving from, press Export at the bottom of the page and save the .json file
  2. Put that file somewhere the other device can reach — cloud storage, an email to yourself, AirDrop, and so on
  3. On the device you are moving to, open DESKBIBO and press Import at the bottom of the page
  4. Choose the file you saved in step 2

Important: Import replaces everything currently on that device

  • This is a copy taken at one moment, not a sync. If you write on both devices at the same time, whichever file you import next will overwrite the other device's work
  • Decide where you are writing — the PC at your desk, the phone on the train — and carry the file across when you switch
  • You will be asked to confirm before anything is replaced

About language

The tools themselves (MEMODULE, Calduo, Dayplot and the timer) use plain English and icons, so they read the same anywhere. Only this guide and the legal pages switch between English and Japanese.

Why there is so little here

DESKBIBO keeps its feature set small on purpose. There is one test for anything we consider adding:

Does it reduce the small moments of being lost while you work?

Powerful tools already exist. DESKBIBO is for the smaller jobs that do not need another account, subscription or workflow.

FAQ

Q. What is DESKBIBO?

A. A free browser workspace with quick memo cards, saved calculation results, a personal monthly planner and a timer — all on one screen.

Q. Is it free?

A. Yes. Every feature is free. There is no premium plan.

Q. Do I need an account?

A. No. There is no sign-up, no login, and nothing to install. It works the moment you open it.

Q. Where is my data stored?

A. Only in your browser (localStorage). Nothing you type is ever sent to a server.

Q. Can other people see my notes?

A. No. Your notes never leave your device, and the operator has no way to access them.

Q. Will my notes remain after closing the browser?

A. Yes. Everything is saved automatically and restored on your next visit — unless you clear your browser's site data.

Q. Can I use it across devices?

A. Not automatically. Use Export to download a backup file on one device, then Import it on another. See "Moving your data between a PC and a phone" on this page for the steps.

Q. How do reminders work?

A. Set a date with the bell icon on a memo. On or after that date, the memo rises to the top with a red "!" badge the next time you open MEMODULE. There are no push notifications — by design.

Q. Is this a Google Calendar alternative?

A. Not a full replacement. Dayplot keeps only the functions needed for personal monthly planning: dated entries, multi-day spans and public holidays. It has no sharing, invitations, times, recurring events or push notifications.

Q. Can I export my data?

A. Yes. Export downloads everything — memos, categories, calculator cards, plans and settings — as a single JSON file. Import restores it completely.
